Default 03 o2 upstream drivers side removal, help

I don't see how the hell getting that one out. I almost can get a wrench on it. Sure I could cut the wires and get a socket on it then, but how would I get the new one tightened in then?
I tried the open ended wrench head on a socket but saw no way to get the wrench head on it.
Good lord expect for the water pump nothing is EASY on this car to repair.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried part number 27162 from Autozone? Tried posting a picture but cannot.

Only tool that worked for me on one of my oxygen sensors.

Just changed mine a few ago, I had to use this offset O2 socket to loosen it http://www.harborfreight.com/3-8-eighth-inch-offset-oxygen-sensor-wrench-97177.html. The hardest part for me was the connector.

bought a set of tools and got it out with ease. Put the new one in, clear code, drove around last night, no check light, got in today, cold out, light back on right away. Assuming it is same issue as that is the only code the car has been throwing is for the upstream left bank sensor.

"thanks for the lead, it lead to other tools for removing these buggers.” and "bought a set of tools and got it out with ease.”

Hello BRGJAG - per statements above, can you add any additional detail re: specific tools and any technique that helped you to get the O2 sensors on and off?

I have not looked into doing this task myself but if, at some point in the future, I or someone else reading this thread you started needs to do a removal and install, it would be great to have the details you learned from your experience to help us with ours.

thanks in advance for taking the time to share your knowledge, that’s one of the things that makes this such a great forum…everyone gives a little and get’s a lot in return.

Happy New year and I hope you find the root cause of your issue soon.

Pull out the connector for the sensor and check the resistance for the heater, it should be around 1ohm when cold. If it is higher then the sensor is incompatible. This part works "Denso DOX-0430".

Measure between the silver pins.

I had a bit of trouble getting mine out. I needed a bit of extra torque.

First I tried fitting a breaker bar, it would not fit in the space available.

Next a 25mm spanner on the end of the lambda socket, but there was no access to turn it.

Then I used a 3/8 socket ratchet but I could not get any purchase on it.

Finally I used the spanner on the end of the ratchet and it easily freed off the sensor.

I went to advanced auto and bought a 3 pc set of 7/8th o2 sensor removal sockets. I used the small one as I did not remove anything out of my way (reservoir tank namely) to access the damn thing. My car being a southern car here in the states my sensor came out rather easy from a standpoint of it not being stuck into the exhaust. hardest part was the lack of room to work around things.

I don't checking the heater is the issue. I think the wire in the connector that the o2 connects too being pulled out is my issue at this point.
