Default 05/06 Front bumper?

Anyone know where I can purchase one, preferably in California to keep shipping costs down? Can be scratched (prefer not split). Any color.

Imported a fiberglass one from the UK at great expense, but just can't get it to fit properly.

Model is a 2001 XKR conv.

Any leads on this hard to find piece would be welcome.

Thanks,

Tim

A 05/06 front cover on an 01? They are a slightly different design, and may not join the same way.

Hey Tim

You should of told me you was still having trouble, everyone seems too apart from me

They are not the best in the world but they can be made to fit OK

You need to bolt the top edge down first then bolt the sides up, then you can start playing with the gaps.
The sides are never a problem it is the top edge that gives people grief because there is a slight twist in the mould, hence the idea of bolting the sides up first.

I might need a 'busmans' holiday

Just found THIS one on eBay... Bit of a bargain might be worth asking the question if they would send State side, I can not see it staying up for long!!

Damn! I'm tempted to buy that one. I'm sure shipping to the US would be incredibly expensive, though. Probably more than the bumper. I really like the look of the newer bumpers.

Hey XKRacer,

I haven't had time for the Jag due to having twins, but I'm just about to move house and it got me thinking about moving the car, and hence the bumper again.

You did tell me that the mould was slightly mis-shapen, so I'm not blaming anyone, it's just that I can't for the life of me get it to fit. I've tried sides first, top first, top and one side, other side and top. You name it, I just can't quite get enough pressure on it to get it to fit. I was wondering if there was a slightly less frustrating way of going.

I followed the link to the eBay bumper which is a real bargain, however the shipping is looking to be 4-500 GBP. Ouch! It only weighs 18kg, so that must just be pure volume. If only I could piggyback on someone shipping a car in a container - trouble is, most of the car shipments seem to be in the other direction.

I'll keep looking and perhaps try to set up a relationship with the bodywork manager at my local Jag dealer :-)

If you want to holiday in San Diego, let me know.....

If you wanted to buy it and have it sent to me, I do send stuff to the States and it maybe possible to add it to that shipment and then have it forwarded on to you, obviously you have to come to some agreement with the other party but it would help you out.

Have a think about it.

Have you tried a professional body shop, or are you trying to attach it on your own?

Professional body shops are not worth it, they very rarely like to attach copy parts and will constantly complain, the only exception would be a custom shop who are use to making/fabricating different non OE parts/panels, the problem with most of those places is they are often expensive
