Default 1997 vs 2000 XK8

So I was looking over Craigslist last night which is usually not a good thing. Came across 2000 XK8 with 55k miles, very reasonably priced. Tempting to upgrade but I would definitely be loosing some money since I already put new tires, new breaks, replace tensioners, as well as few other thing on my 1997. Plus I think I have better hydrolic tubing for the top before Jag changed them to the one's that are failing. The only think that annoys me is squeaking air vents (I did all the recommended stuff, still squeaks). As tempting as it is I am inclined to wait and then upgrade to something newer around 2003 +. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Wait for a 2003+. The 6 speed and 4.2l is a major upgrade you will definitely notice and enjoy. The '97 to '00 is not.

Yup... if you are going to upgrade definitely go with 2003 or later 4.2.

Thanks. I know this was covered before and I am being lazy, what year Jag stooped using plastic tensioners and crappy hydrolic tubing?

I've just gone from a 2001 to a 2005 XK8 and agree with the other comments. If you're going to change, 4.2 and 6-Speed is the way to go.
