Default 1997 XK8 ABS light and DSC / STAB failure

Hello, everyone,

My 1997 XK8 unfortunately has the ABS light on and the DSC and STAB failure. This is since I bought the car.

I have read all the forums and tried several things. But unfortunately I can't solve it so far.

After I opened the module and re-soldered the dots, the DSC and STAB faults are gone, as long as the car is stationary. When I drive a few meters (forward) they come back again. The abs light always stays on.

I have measured all the ABS sensors at the wheels, and there they all have the same resistance. But, when I measure the same sensors on the plug of the abs computer, I don't measure any resistance with all 4 sensors!

Does anyone have a similar experience or a good idea how to proceed? I really appreciate your help.

Diederick

Hi,

Did you take out the sensors to clean off grease and metal particles?

If not, pls try.

good luck

Thank you very much for your reaction

I have already done that. They were already pretty clean when I took them out. Then I cleaned them all. Unfortunately, this made no difference.

Okay, next in line is battery voltage with ignition off, after day of sitting still. (sb abive 12.5 ish ) And then try to monitor during cranking. (I think you can make a histogram with a ELM327?) If it gets under 9v or so the system goes mad..

You probable also did this? In that case pls. post what you did try.

Okay, I have measured the voltage of the battery.

After a day of standing still I measure 12.22V
At startup 10.8v

So far I have re-soldered the dots in the abs module and cleaned all the wheel sensors and measured the sensors for resistance.

I find it strange that I measure resistance on all 4 sensors themselves, but not on the connector that goes into the abs module.

Strange indeed all 4...(Look for commonalities. Maybe Measuring device probes too thick?

12.22 V is quite low however.
Can you charge it overnight and start the car next day with charger connected? If no messages you know Battery is not what the Jag needs for a good mood😉

Edit: didn't read your posts well. Appologies. You are getting the messages back after reset with engine running. Different story. Dunno whats up.

Good luck
