Unhappy 1997 XK8 trunk locked in valet mode, need help.

This is my first week owning an XK8. So far it has been a crazy experience to say the least. Not knowing the possible consequences I accidentally put my XK in Valet mode. Now when I push the trunk button it just beeps. I tried unlocking the door with the key manually and then with the fob to disengage valet mode. The trunk will not open but the fuel lid does. So maybe it is out of valet mode but there is a separate issue with the trunk. Does anyone know what is the situation here? Any help with this is very much appreciated.

Oh and my battery is now loosing power so it won't start. I will need to get into the trunk to jump it. Crazy situation.

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to open the Trunk manually by putting the Black Key into the Keyhole in the XK8 Emblem next to the Trunk Lid.

I believe that if you use the Black Key in the Ignition, the Valet Mode is Canceled.

You can Charge (but not Start the Car) the Battery by connecting a Charger to Terminals under the hood:

Opening and closing the doors with the fob should clear valet mode, if you dead lock it that definitely does as it did it just the other day, alway push that damn button when going for the petrol release, I have now disconnected it.

To deadlock, lock the car once then lock again, the lights will flash for a longer period and a beep, then open the car, job done

The double lock seems a UK specific thing - we went round this loop some time ago re the recommendation to 'double lock' to reduce quiescent battery drain.
Our American cousins were playing scales and arpeggios on their key fobs to no avail.

After I sent this request out I found the key hole to open the boot. I'm going to charge the battery and see if I can get it sorted out. Thanks for the help. It is always good to hear all the options for solving the issue.
