Default 1998 XK8 Blinker Issue

I have read several post on this topic, I have not been able to resolve mine.

My blinker indicator blinks very fast, left/right indicator.

1. Cleaned all contacts for incoming connector into rear assemblies.
2. Checked all bulbs and contacts for blinkers front an rear
3. When blinker is turned on I can measure from the ground pin to the blinker power tab in the socket and get voltage flux from 4.1 - 7.56.

My running lights, brake and backup work.

I am running out of options, I saw the one post for the steering wheel connector stalk whereby the wires come unconnected. I would think mine is okay since I get power to the lamp sockets in the rear when turned on.

thanks
Tauni

Update:

There seems to be a brake light issue as well, sometimes the brake lights just flash, then press again and a Click under the Shifter and the
brakes lights come on. It will show the warning on and off, rear bulb inop, but then stops.

Also while checking the blinker socket in the rear there is a Constant voltage of 8.58 even with everything off.

Guesses and findings
Thoughts on Body Processor Module?
Some relay is under the shifter area?
Constant voltage at rear blinker if key off an out
On/Off Rear Bulb out warning, yet bulbs are all good.
Jiggles wires and connectors

Default Intermittent brake lights and or turn signals

I had a similar situation when the turn signal, left or right was on and applied the brakes. I cleaned all the contacts on the terminals for the lamp assembly. The problem still persisted, there was really no indications on the terminals of a bad connection. The problem was resolved when the connectors in the harness were sprayed with contact cleaner and upon inspection with a magnifying glass I could see evidence of poor connection. I also used a jewelers screwdriver to carefully massage the connectors for a tighter fit when plugged into the lamp housing terminal strip. I hope this helps in your situation. Also you can read the posts in the DIY sticky, electrical section, brake lights intermittent thread.

had same problem.. you need to add another ground wire to the unit.. the ground in the harness is bad and i couldn't fix it either. added the new seperate ground wire and poof!! problem solved.. just drill a hole for a self tap screw, use an electrical connector and you can do it in under an hour.. with hand tools, easy.

Did you see this thread?

See post #8 for a neat solution to fitting a new ground wire.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I am back on it this morning and will try your suggestions. I love the car however they are sure full of relays, fuse boxes, switches and the like making Electrical troubleshooting a little more difficult.

Update:
I implemented the GND wire connection from the light assembly to the mounting bolt, checked for continuity to GND to ensure a good connection.

Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem. Directional indicator on dash still flashes at twice the normal rate.

A good thing to do anyway, thanks for the tip.

Sigh......... Now what....

I am perplexed as to why I see a 8.5V signal at the blinker when the blinker is not on....

It seems like the next check would be the Body Processor Module (BPM) behind the glove box.

Does any one know the readings I should get if I can test it. I would think the only tests would
be out of car, then the connector.

I know there is the Steering Column stalk known issue, however this is more invasive than the BPM
if there is a way to validate its operational status.

Thanks

I ran out of options to find a solution so I went to JustAnswer and was talking with a Jag tech there.

If anyone enjoys a challenge here is the link to our conversation:

I am at a loss here as to what to do, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
