1998 XK8 Value
+1 to Mad Hatter
Peter, I too am very skeptical of the X100 as an investment. It’s not an E-type. It’s a modern classic, and needs to be driven. Besides why lock up a beautiful car. Enjoy it.
As a hobby mechanic, i’ve restored a1972 Triumph GT6 in Ireland, the old proverb is that you’ll sell on at only approx 50% of what you put in. That was true for my Triumph.
In addition of the long term problems you noted, I would add the UK problem with rust. Simply putting it in a covered garage only delays the inevitable. Also there’s the complicated electrical systems which is all linked by a CAN bus network. The PCB capacitors need to be worked. They’ll age badly if unused.
To get get my XK8 going after 2 years of storage took me a month (part time weekend working) and cost of replacement parts was considerable. And I’m still at it after more than a year later. My car is a daily driver and sometimes I sit in the garage looking at her.
Good of luck with whatever you decide
