Default 1999 XK8 - Reverse Light

The drivers side reverse light/back-up light on my 1999 XK8 keeps burning out, and i am not sure why. Is there something quirky with the electrical system on this model that i should know about, or should I just buy a higher rated amperage bulb? All suggestions are welcome.

I can't think of anything besides using the wrong bulb. Switch left and right bulbs, same thing?

Is there any chance it's not really burned out bulb (did you test it? Are you getting message?) And you're getting burned by the well known factory ground wire too small issue?

In case you missed it, we have discovered that the factory chose to build the rear light assembly with a ground wire that's too thin, it heats up, causing dash messages, poor performance of that pods lights.

Easy to fix, rivit a 18guage or thicker wire to the silver ground plane which surrounds the bulbs, loosen a nearby nut on the chassis, connect new wire.

BTW if defective your thin black ground wire to the light pod is likely already showing signs of overheating. It just can't handle the combined current of the turn signal, brake light, parking light, and rear fog.
