1999 XK8 with rough idle AFTER SHUT DOWN
Seems to happen most times. I had the throttle body reconditioned by ASE and it seemed to fix all of the engine stalling and messages leading to failure and limp home mode.
Now, I can get in it and crank from cold start, drive for an hour, and after stopping for lunch, get back in and it will crank right away but stumble/shake with yellow and red light on dash (no codes or messages). I seem to have to rev it a bit to smooth out the rough idle and then its fine for the drive home.
Is it still the throttle body? Or other things to look out for?

Would it make a difference if you with ignition on, before you start it, give the pedal a couple of strokes first? Im thinking if the butterfly isnt seated properly.. But, it seems that it does not get enough supplementatry fuel or air at start.. or to much.. Cleaning of MAP sensor maybe?

Little can be done to insulate Steel fuel rail from conducted engine heat except to keep cooling air flowing through engine bay. I will also add that you may want to check your fuel pressure at the fuel rail…and if your fuel filter has never been changed, or is due for changing you may want to think about that as well.

Red/Amber check engine lights may indicate misfires, which codes will clear once the car is running OK. Next time it happens, try turning off the ignition before the motor smooths out, then check for any DTCs.

I had to search for Jersey Island location. I thought it was closer to GB but read not actually a part of GB. It must be very beautiful there. I have been to England and France which you are between.
The big question is living on an island 9 miles by 5 miles, WHY would you want to have a XK8. By the time you get up to speed, you have to turn around and come back.

There is no rational reason for owning an old Jaguar and, AFAIK, no known cure for the affliction. Plus, Mrs. H bought it as a present for a significant birthday 20-odd years ago. Probably to stop me drooling over the car...
Misfire (which is what I think is happening) can be either fuelling or ignition related, so look to the easy stuff for starters- fuel filter, injectors, etc. as suggested above. If you can capture some codes, that may help.
It's unlikely to be throttle body related.
Thank you for your help. I too have always loved the classic Jaguars but could only afford the XK8. Although now have spent three times it's worth on preventative replacement items known to fail. And, I agree, after being on a tour bus in London, I would NEVER try to drive there.
