I have a 1999 xk8 with a intermittant starting problem which happens hot and cold.
I have serviced the injectors all new seals checked for injectors leaking all ok.i have checked fuel pressure at rail and with KOEO i have just under 3bar.when started she runs at 2.5 bar.when the vacum pipe is pulled off the return valve it sits at 3 bar.when started she runs great.have not checked compression yet but will do so next week,read about liner problems causing bad start. when i KOEO and let all the igniton lights go out and count to 5 it starts first time. So i done some research and came across the check valve theory.But when i checked my pressure i left it for a hour and it hardly dropped.
when left over night 0bar pressure in the rail but as soon as igntion on full 3 bar.
