Default 20" Wheel Trim Removal

Hi, can anyone please advise me on how to remove the stainless steel trim from around the rim on my Paris wheels?
Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy,

It's not that easy. Your alloys are BBS split rim wheels and the inner part of the wheel has to be removed from the outer part by undoing all the small bolts around the edge of the wheel. The problem with these are that they tend to seize and you risk shearing the head off.

I read an article where someone used a hot air gun to heat them up before removing which seemed to help. You then have to knock the centre part of the wheel out of the outer bit to access the stainless steel trim. It is glued into place and you will need a heat gun to melt the glue.

Another problem is BBS stopped making the trims although some people have started remanufacturing them. Ebay seems a good source but they are over £100 each!

If you are in the UK, there is a company called SB wheels that specialise in refurbishing BBS alloys. You can send your wheels to them or they can come to you and remove and then refit them later. They don't show a price but I would imagine it won't be cheap.

If you decide to try yourself, let us know how you get on, I've been thinking of having a go myself!
