2000 Type-S 4.0 to 4.2 possible?

2000 Type-S 4.0 to 4.2 possible?
Saw and bought '00 S-Type at my pal's shop today, 113kmi. Heads were already off. Some pistons with awful carbon. Guessing at ring and valve job, tensioners and timing chain.
What hassles may arise if I stroke it to make it a 4.2?.
Are deeper liners required? That would add $400 in liners and a labor quotient. Don't want a supercharged and am in Calif so even my approach is verboten, but I suspect 5% airflow will not be noticed.
