Default 2000 xk8 convertible gas,oil,filter,code reader

Hi everyone, I am very trilled , I just bought a 2k Jaguar xk8 convertible, If you don't mind, I have few questions for you Jag owners.

1- what gas brand and octan are you guys using?
2- what is the best oil brand for our Jaguars?
3-what kind of oil filter should I use?
4- Is Jaguar 2k using OBDII technology?

Thank you so much for helping.

Default I have the same year and model

Congratulations!

I run mine on 83 octane and sometimes premium. Figure out your dollars per mile for each and use the one that's best. If you hear pinging (pre-detonation) with the cheap gas move up a notch. The 4.0 will adjust the timing itself.

Fram filters are fine. The service manual calls for 10K intervals, I do mine more often.

I use Castrol for oil.

Yes, it's OBDII. Lower left, by your shin.

Get a shop manual - $10.00 on ebay

I use www.rockauto.com for basic parts.

Don't forget the serpentine belt and fuel filter.

Congrats AJ! A few jag owners have agreed that Shell 93 octane gives better performance and economy over the other brands. If you don't know the previous owner's selection of gas, and you feel that the car is getting lower than average gas mileage (most get 20+ avg), then take it to your dealer for a fuel injection cleaning, or buy a can of BG-44, and check your throttle body for crud. A good cleaning may be all she needs to purr again.

For gas, I do Shell over all the others brands due to my personal experience.

As for oil, I use synthetic, Valvoline 5w30 as recommended in the manual for my climate conditions.

The Jag's running great , I just want it to stay this way... That's why I am asking the pros. Shell premium it is. Brand name oil Castrol or Valvoline Syntetic.

Thank you very much for the info I really do appreciate your help.
