Hi, this is Martin in Menifee, CA. My car is a 2000 xk8 coupe.
Question: can the steering reach be locked in in the highest position? Thanks to all who have provided detailed information on servicing
the reach issue and parts and tools needed. To be honest, it's more mechanical work than my capabilities, although I appreciated the
the detailed data. I'd be happy to have the wheel locked in place and dispense with the full gear and cable replacement. Hoping for a simple
solution to extend the steering wheel reach and lock in place.

Not quite sure what you mean with locked? If you put it in a position it should stay there.

 

I'm sure he has the electric version - in the auto setting it will retract and raise when you turn the car off to allow you in and out.

Did you try to turn the button to the off position once you have it set? I thought that should keep it in place without it moving.
