Default 2000 XKR Engine shaking the car

2000 XKR - My car was running great but when I started it up the other morning it ran so rough it was shaking the whole car. I could hear rushing air and it sounded like there was a rattle coming from the supercharger. I have no codes since I probably didn't run it long enough to set any. I have removed the supercharger and it seems fine. It turns freely and the lobes look fine. During the disassembly I didn't find any thing obviously wrong like detached hoses etc. BTW, I replaced the upper cam chain tensioners about 20K ago. If anyone has any thoughts about what might be wrong please let me know. PS sorry about the post to wrong Forum.

I doubt the supercharger has anything wrong with it. The rattling is probably due to the engine running so roughly - a symptom, not a cause.

I'm wondering if it's spark plugs, or coil packs.

A code would really help.

If the engine runs really rough, you will hear rattle from the SC, this is normal ue to the erratic low rpm.

Obviously a large air leak was present, and from what you described I would have guessed that 1 of the round rubber seals (between the SC outlet that says V8 on it and the intercoolers), would have been sucked in a little and caused a leak, seems common. There is a newer design rubbers/plates that will prevent the rubbers from getting sucked in via an extra lip.

Here are the partnos:
AJ86926 1x Plate
AJ86925 2x Seals
AJ86927 1x RH plate
AJ86928 1x LH plate

Avos - thanks a whole lot. Looks like I went a little to far on my tear down. When I pulled the supercharger outlet I did not see any problem but the duct may have gone back in place afer the engine was shut down. I had a similiar problem about a month ago but engine performance was not nearly so poor. Googled part numbers and found TSM 303-57 that should have alerted the d------p to use the new part numbers when they replaced the ducts a month ago. Here are some other things I learned so far. The JTIS does not tell where the raidator drain plug is. It is hidden above the plastic cover near the alternator and is not easy to see. There is also another drain plug on the supercharger radiator facing front. The JTIS shows releasing the belt tensioner with the fans in place. Finally I removed the fans. Easy with two people one lifting from above and one underneath checking to see what it is getting hung up on. I could not remove the bypass hoses and ended up cutting them. I hope the new hoses are more flexible. Any words of encouragement or advise is appreciated.

I would agree with Avos, quite a common problem, there are updated versions you can get, not 100% sure what was done but I am sure avos knows all the info.

PS Are these parts available from somewhere besides the dealership?

You can try the forum sponsor: www.gaudinporscheparts.com

Any jaguar parts supplier should be able to deliver these, would just email them.
