Default Another seat Module issue

The passenger side seat will not move up or back. I did the swap and only heard a clicking sound pressing it both ways(before only one way).Placed the "bad" passenger module in drivers seat and only reclined. that's more than it would do in the passengers seat.....

Checked the fuses as well. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Thanks

Default Seat Module

Since you have power to the seats, you are now looking at the switch pack, the module, and the motors, and associated drives. Any one item within these mechanisms may be the problem. There are a number of threads and related TSB's pertaining to the seat modules, including everything from the seat rubbing against the wires, module cases, etc.
Do a thread search "Seat Module" and a listing of diagnostic procedures and TSB's will be included.

My thoughts are that if it were the switch pack or Motor on the passenger side,it would have worked when I tried it on the driver's side. But it only reclined.

What are the chances of all 3 items going out on the same seat?

Possibly a switch pack and broken tracking in the module, hence it only reclines when placed on the Driver's side.

If only there was a way to incline it just a little bit to make my wife happy!

I would put my money on broken tracking on the controller board. Thise hairline fractures can be intermittent, and the slightest movement or temperature change can cause it to work one moment and not the next.

that's true, but what's gotten me stummped is the fact that the swap did NOT work. If it was a Bad Module, the one removed from the working driver's side should have worked. ? I'm still hoping it's the Module.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

When you put the 'good' driver's module on the passenger side, did you even get any clicking? Did anything at all work?

yes,it clicked both ways recline and incline positions. Whereas now the bad one only clicks when pressed to adjust the recline position.

funny ,when I placed the bad passenger module in drivers seat it would only recline.

just cant figure it out....

The seat back recline relay closure traces (which drive the motors) are at the edge of the seat module printed circuit board and are the ones most susceptable to the case abrasion and environment that makes them crack or corrode and dissolve.

I would be inclined (no pun intended) to closely inspect both of your module circuit boards in this area with a magnifier and an ohmeter. The cases just snap open. It is possible that even your 'good' module is not so good.

It would also be a good idea to check your under seat wiring for chafed insulation.

I did pop it open and clean the board. I did notice some "tracking" arround the outter edges, but dismissed it because the good module did not work. Looks like it points to the wiring under the seat and possible break in outter tracks which control the incline input from switch.

All evidence points to wiring and module given evrything else. Would you agree?
Thanks for your help.

Agreed. Those outer edge traces in particular need a very close inspection...the faults are often hard to see with the naked eye.

Here is where the diagnostics outweigh throwing parts at a problem.

Here is some info.

Those TSBs deal with the seat memory, not manual operation. Your problems are with manual opertion, so I do not think they apply to this problem.
