2000 XKR Engine swap problem
Hi New to this forum, so hello everyone firstly .
I purchased a 2000 xkr with a bottom end problem which turned out to be a broken con rod, which had then destroyed the block. My mechanic has now fitted a used engine from a 98 xjr (aj26) due to not being able to find a 2000 my aj27 engine.
He fitted the left hand head from my original engine and used the coils etc, the flywheel is the same at the rear so he did not change that.
My problem is the car will start and run for about 2 seconds then stop and then turn over without starting. If I leave the car for a minute and try again it will do the same fire up perfectly then cut out and refuse to restart - flooding?
I have looked at posts from someone who changed from a aj27 to a aj26 and he was told to change both heads, my mechanic insists this is not needed as the timing and cam sensors from head on the new engine will be ok.
Any ideas welcome.

The Flywheel is not the same from the AJ26 engine, as it has 34 holes for the fly wheel sensor, instead of 35 needed for the AJ27. That may well be your problem then.
Another thing that you must re-use from your AJ27 engine are the camshafts (especially the intake ones), as they have a different sensor pattern as well.
