Update: I'm almost done replacing the engine in my XKR. The crankshaft was far too damaged to rebuild and metal particles went all through the system. I purchased a rebuilt long block from Auto Sports Unlimited for $4500 plus shipping. Water pump, O-rings, thermostat, valve covers have added several hundred dollars more. The long block does come with a 12 mth/12000 mile parts warranty. I've spoken with several dealers and no one has heard of this much oil consumption and the consensus is that it was not filled correctly. Mobil 1 Lube express has been no help at all so I've given up and hired a lawyer. Replacing the engine is a very big and time consuming task so I would suggest avoiding these guys!

 

What is the proceedure for purging air from the cooling system. I've been told to open the large hex plug in the super charger cooler and run the engine but would like more detailed instructions.

 

You may have better luck ragtop with your question in another thread, this one deals with (and is titled) around your oil loss, and may not get the response you need.
