My 2001 coupe first is awesome, runs great with no codes, but…
1. Intake tube accordion section is starting to wear and some cracks are evident. Any new replacements out there?
2. my radiator fans work when a/ c is on but i have never heard them on at any other time( no A/C ).. my 99 fans used to be on after I turned car off then turned off automatically ( after a certain temp reduction.?) is the sensor screwed in to radiator or engine block?
any help appreciated ! Thanks in advance.

 

Regarding your worn-out plastic air intake tube, get the aluminum replacement one from Mina Gallery. I have had mine for more than five years now (the part number was PRXTT-1595). I paid $175 with free shipping. Solves the issue permanently....

 

Ditto on the Mina Gallery replacement, that's what I did on mine. Works well, easy to install, and it's pretty! :-)
Re. the fans, I've rarely heard/seen them on other than with A/C. I don't know if anything changed between '99 and '01 in that respect. But I've not had any overheating issues, though I know the cheesy gauge doesn't reflect reality. I bought the RealGauge thing but haven't yet gotten around to installing it.

The fans are controlled by the ECM for both engine temp and A/C pressure.
