Default 2001 xk8 headgasket replacement


Getting prepared to change our head gaskets and expansion tank on 2001 xk8 coupe
I am doing this in Athens Greece in a few days
What tools are needed to make sure it is done correctly and any special instructions from all
your experience

That's going to keep you out of mischief for a while

I've attached the JTIS cylinder head R&R, but I recommend you download the 2nd edition Workshop Manual from the stickies here:

Do a page search on 'workshop'

You're going to need a timing kit, and something to break that wretched crank bolt free (replace with new). I don't see any cooling parts in your kit, so consider replacing any/all rubber and plastic components as part of the job - particularly the valley hoses & the thermostat tower while you have the top of the motor apart.

Does the car still have plastic tensioners?

If its the right hand head change the starter motor while you can get at it .
Torque wrench and a brain.
