how do we get the phone option to work on the 2001 Jaguar XK8?

Buy a Motorola TimePort phone option and get a time machine to transport you back about 20 years.
CDMA or TDMA technology (I don't remember which one) plus all the install modules and you can talk to all the people that had mobile phones as well as the 'bag-phones' and land lines.

 

That's the 60 thousand dollar question... If you post in the XK8 forum you will get a reply. There is a device you can plug into the existing cd player which will open up a lot of functionality between your phone and the CD player, which will then be pipes into the OE car audio system. Great for music.... Hands free calling and getting the OE mic to work for calls and operating this way (I think) is a little bit of a different story BUT you will be able to use ear buds and such. The device,,, and if I see response to this message I will dig it up (I want and need one too,,, is about 85bucks and really is plug and play. I'll look around.
