Does anyone know of a reason why not to use NEW 2001 Lincoln LS 3.9 cylinder heads bolts for a head gasket repair on a 2001 Jaguar XKR 4.0 ?
The bolt size and torque tightening procedure are the same, but the cost of the LINCOLN bolts are 1/3 the cost of JAGUAR bolts.

The Lincoln LS bolts from FEL-PRO (#ES72262) are the ones to get.

I purchased a set of FEL-PRO ES72262, and found the Lincoln bolts are 9mm in diameter VS Jag are 10mm near the head. I attached a picture of the bolts side by side. Mathematically it does effect the spring rate of the bolt, not sure if it will make a significant difference. If you guys have used them with success on 2001 Supercharged 4.0 V8s with no consequence. I am willing to give them a try.

When I worked at the Jag dealer I used the OEM bolts but when I need bolts here at my shop I use the FEL PRO. I have used about a dozen sets and have never had one fail or had a car come back with a problem.
You will note that the FEL PRO has a washer so the head probably has less friction when torquing and rotating the 90 degree final turns if you oil it slightly.

Take it for what it is worth.

Thank you for sharing your success with me bob, your expertise is valuable resource. I am a first timer with these engines. The car that I am replacing the cylinder heads on is 2001 XKR that dropped an intake valve seat. Bought a set Salvaged XJ8 heads on ebay, from a nice running car with rod knock, and the heads show minimal wear. Just finished machining a bore for the Right Cylinder Head camshaft position sensor, and plugged the oil feed ports for the Valve phasing actuator on both heads.
Might have it running next week.
