2001 xk8 towing eye strange size and thread
Hello all,
Like many of you my 2001 xk8 convertible lost it's towing eye somewhere in the dark past. I've looked at all the posts that said up to 2003 it was a 20mm 2.5 rh thread. I ordered one from Jaguar Heaven and it wasn't eve close to the socket for mine. I dug around an found a bolt that kind of fit just to try to get a size and thread on it. It's bigger than a 5/8 but smaller than a 3/4 with a rh fine thread. I looked for an 11/16 but couldn't find one at my local hardware store just to see if it would fit. Maybe it's an 18 or 19 but it's definitely not a 20. Have any of you had experience with this or any suggestions where to look?
Thanks
Will

Very strange that there seem to be different answers here. I have a 1999 XK8. I just measured the threads on my towing eye, and found them to be 20mm OD, with a 3.0mm thread pitch. In any case you may be sure that they are metric.

Sorry, but I just re-measured my towing-eye threads. The diameter is still 20mm, but the pitch is actually 2.5mm. In any case still metric. Should be scads of these lurking in the trunks of junked cars.
