Default 2001 xkr

can anyone tell if replacing head bolts when replacing head gasket is 100% a must or this a sales gimmick

Head bolts are placed under tremendous stress and can be stretched. They should be replaced when replacing the head gasket.

thank you for your reply. I have not worked with cast block and aluminuim heads and my bolts look great so because of great cost I what be to sure its necessary

Old thread, but there's some banter regarding re-use (or not) of the head bolts starting on page 2. I would always replace with new.

Bolts for the Lincoln LS 3.9 are apparently the same part but cheaper.
