Default 2001 XKR, 30K miles

2001 xkr sat in garage from Nov to current. Will crank but wont start. Added HEAT into tank to get rid of the water, added octane boost. Cleaned Mass airflow sensor, air filter, and wanted to change fuel filter. Is taking the left rear tire off the best method to get to the filter? Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Are you getting fuel pressure? You can get a loaner tool from most stores to see if the pressure is right.

Yes, the filter is right in front of that wheel, but before you crack open the fuel system, consider
- seeing if you have fuel pressure at the schrader valve fuel port near the front/left of the engine.
- bridging the fuel relays in the trunk and see if you hear the two pumps run.

Fuel pumps fails are common

I had a similar problem and it was the fuel pump. Cost me a few bucks to have that work done by a local shop. Mine is the XK8 same year 2001. My fuel filter is under the car but in front of the rear wheel. Have changed it out twice before and its not too bad of a job. Put in a decent one, the cheap ones don't seem to last as long.

Typo? As in "It was the fuel filter" instead of pump?

Another thought. On my 2003 STR, After it sits for 6 months during the winter, when the battery ran out of juice. Mine wouldn't start no matter what I tried. Added more gas, Water remover. Checked fuel pressure at the rail. Engine just cranked and cranked without starting. No error codes. I searched the forum and found out that sometimes if you charge a dead battery with the positive cable attached, and then try to start the car, for some reason the ECM does not get reset properly and the security system locks out starting the car. I removed the positive battery cable from the battery, charged up the battery again, made sure the car sat for a couple house to let the ECM reset. Attached the positive battery cable again, let all the electrical systems start up. Voila, the car started right up.

Its worth a try before trying more drastic measures.
