Default 2001 XKR idle RPM'S - a bit low?

hello, I am curious on what other XKR'S rpm's are when at idle. I have checked mine with OBDII reader and at idle the car is at 596 rpm in drive at stop light, put in neutral and it jumps to 650. The idle in drive seems a bit low.

Is there a way to raise rpm's of a XKR
to about 700 - 725 rpm's?

My reasoning is when I am at a stop light in drive and the fans come on my voltage output drops and I need to put in neutral or step on accelerator to raise rpm's so alternator spins faster, thus the voltage goes up, if I could raise the cars rpm's by 50 to 75 rpm's I would not need to do this.

Thanks for your knowledge and reply on raising rpm's.

Happy Motoring...

I just checked my RPM's with Innova scan tool and got identical readings at temp of 200 F. I turned A/C on and it didn't make any real difference.

OK--you asked what other RPM's are at idle---gave that to you. I believe this is normal considering the fact that you have a '01 and I have a '06 and the data is identical. Don't know if you can change the RPM's---gotta feeling that would involve some programming on the ECU. Hopefully others will chime in if it can be done. I wouldn't be to concerned about voltage drop for short periods of time in traffic.

I have a 2002 XKR and at idle I'm at 600 rpms. Never had any electrical problems but don't have a voltmeter gage so I can't comment about any voltage drop.
