2002 XK8 Convertable - Replacing seals for convertable top to driver door window
Wondering if anyone can tell me the proper procedure to remove / install the 3 seals on the convertable top to driver door window. The middle one ripped so, I figured I would replace all three pieces to keep water and wind noise outside. Thanks
I have only removed the driver door window section but it is a no-bainer. Remove one screw, pull the rubber out of the molded metal frame and it is glued for about an inch at the end. It pulled loose easily.
I've replaced the middle section...no glue at all, just snug on the 'rail' thingy. Are you sure you want to do all three..its like $100 for each piece!?!?! There is a thread talking about conditioning the older seals - Gummi pfleg, and I bought some...great product, I think it really works! My windows have quieted down noticably. I did about three treatments over a couple days. Still plenty left in the bottle.
The front section is $140 alone. That is why I took mine off and sorta 'restored' it with super glue and RTV sealant. See the discussion in the 'Hints from Heloise' sticky. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...acement-50653/

Thanks for the feedback. True enough that each piece is real expensive. I will try the Gummi pfleg on the front and rear pieces and see if I can get away with replacing only the middle piece.

Sure you can!
Supper glue, dowel wrapped in waxed paper, and heat gun.
Mine was crimped over and torn. Putting it back into position with superglue around the dowel and then warming it worked.
