2002 XKR supercharger options?
So mine sounds like an ammo can full of rocks, in a paint mixing machine. I replaced the drive coupler, rebuilt the snout, and it sounds worse now than before. Go used, rebuild, or new? Anyone "been there, done that" and have recommendations?
It could be the rear needle bearing pack bearings, or it could be the bearings at the base of the rotor pack between the rotors and drive gears. You aren't doing that rotor pack at home.
I've gone two routes, I've rebuilt one($70) and paid a shop to do the rotor pack bearings and seals ($450 wth shipping), that was more expensive. And I've bought a mint, used, low mileage (48k miles) used complete unit off a wrecked car for $200 on car-part com from a scrap yard and popped all the bearings in the snout, and the rear needle bearing packs. That was $270 all in. The rebuilt was my late 98 xjr at 90k miles, and low mileage was my 00 xkr at 106k miles.
I'd do the used low mileage one again in a heart beat. Less downtime was nice and a lot of the SC shops take a long time and cost several times as much. I also sold my nice used snout on eBay and made some of the money back of the used sc purchase.
