Default 2003 AC Compressor should come on???

I noticed today, about 20 outside that my ac compressor was not engaging when the AC is turned on or it if the window defrost was turned on.
I had the temp set to LOW, nothing, turned on defrost (ac's button light came on) and still not clutch engaging/spinning.
If it is 20 or so outside just turning on the AC the clutch does not engage? Should it if you turn on the defrost??
The AC was cold as ice this past summer/fall.

Jump the pressure valve at the center rear of the radiator and see if the clutch engages. The valve/sensor will disable the clutch if the freon pressure is too low or too high.

Yes, the compressor should engage with the defrost on, regardless of outside temp.

This procedure will allow you to pull the codes from your climate control panel along with code definition.

I did take car to car wash and sprayed down the front of motor and radiator area of rad fluid. Maybe there is water in a sensor that needs to dry up to allow the ac compressor to turn on. The ac unit and around it was dirty so I hit it good with water. I suspect once it dries it will start working. I have ALWAYS used spray washed to clean my cars, this car is a bit finicky when water hits ANYTHING.

I just have the code 23. So what does that mean for me? All I can think is when I was at the car wash and sprayed down the radiator area and lower part of front of motor the water did something. Damn thing was cold as ice as late as early fall.

Read the sheet. The code 23 is saying the freon is low and needs to be serviced. No freon no pressure no cooling. You may have a slow leak or the switch is bad and the only way to know is to put a set of gauges on it.

If you look down between the two fans attached the a pipe going from the left to the right of the engine bay.

I was able to open it in another browser. Could me covering that switch in water have ruined it or needs unplugged and dried out?
