Default 2003 Auto Dim/Rain sensor Rview Mirror lifting off

I have the auto dim/rain sensor rear view mirror. In this pics you can see that it is detaching right in the middle on bother sides of the round part in the pic. How can I make that restick. Right now the mirror is hanging on from the bottom and some a few sticky back things I put on to help hold it in place.

Well wife said she saw black drops today from the mirror so I have removed it as it was about to fall off now. Where is this black drop of fluid coming from? The round EYE I guess you call it it still on the windshield, is that where the JUICE is dropping from?
How do I reattach this thing?

seems like some type of glue would hold it in place.

There is a special adhesive pad you can get from a Jag dealer. See: Jaguar Parts - Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com

from what I have found there is a gel that can be used now to hold up the mirror replacing the electromatic stuff?

Pretty sure it is correct. It worked in this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-bumps-103725/, but this is not what holds the mirror up, just the rain sensing disk.

You need to get that mirror out of the car and get it repaired. The liquid is caustic, wear gloves.

I guess I am not getting this. The mirror is out of the car. Where is the bad liquid coming from??? The round thing is still attached to the window though. I tugged on it a little and it started pulling off but pushed it back on the window and it seems to be attached pretty good. Does that need to be taken off and re-stuck to the window?
I guess I need to pull up the old electrostatic sticky thing?

if it comes down to it I don't car if the rain sensing thing works to be honest, the car see's little rain. I just want all of the darn mirror stuff back up and not falling off. Looks like I can pull off the round sensor thing? When I do will I need new adhesive for it when I put it back on?

Default Mirror

The self dimming component in the mirror uses a very caustic liquid and it is prone to fail and then leak particularly if it gets hot if that is leaking get the mirror replaced do not reattach it. DO NOT LET THAT LIQUID TOUCH YOU OR ANTHING IN YOUR CAR it is nasty stuff. I don't recall it being black though so it is possible that someone used some substandard adhesive which has melted in the heat. Better safe than sorry though. If you remove anything you'll need a new adhesive back to reattach it the adhesive is generally single use only. The part number for the new adhesive was listed earlier in the string.

I see no signs of leaks from the mirror. It is out of the car and I looked it over and see nothing.

wife say she saw a blackish spot on the dash pad, I see nothing when I look. When it was half way hanging up there the rain sensor eye was, is coming off, I wonder if the black gue holding it on melted and dripped.
I am about to putt all crap down and attach a regular mirror up there. All that fancy **** is fine till it breaks, then it costs crazy money to fix.

This appears to be for the rain sensor. What do I need to hold the whole mirror assembly back on the window?

Where do I get the black sticky stuff that you see in the pics I posted. You see at the center of it both sides of the sensor is where it pulled away allowing the mirror to come loose. The rain sensor is attached still. Where do I find that black piece that goes all the way around. I pull it all off since most of it was pulling up. That seems to be what was holding up my mirror.

This is my mirror. The center circle sits over my rain sensor. On the flat metal circle there was a hard black adhesive of some type that held my mirror to the window I think.
Does any one know on this??? Seems everything I find here is pre 2003 and is diff. I don't even have a clip in mine as noted on the pre 2003 models. I just have that pressure metal that pushes on the sensor I think to keep tension on things.
