A year or two after I got my car, somewhere around 2005, one of the wheel center caps fell off and when I went to get a new one, they were no longer available. I ended up buying a set of four of what they did have.
The other day, I found the original three in a bag so I thought I'd see if I could find a fourth. The image on the left is the original and the one on the right is the replacement:
The part number for the 2003MY is C2S2356 and I'm guessing the one on the right is from 2005 and is C2C6061. It seems that they didn't use the 2003 version for very long or maybe it was only used on certain wheels or models as there are about a million wheel caps on eBay and I so far have only found two kind of crummy-looking used ones. It's hard to take an image of these things and they generally look worse in an image than they really are (as you can see on the right - in real life, it looks just fine) but I'd like to find a new one.
Anyway, in order to narrow down the search, does anyone know how long or on how many different models or wheels the one on the left was used?
I agree it is weird looking but it's what came on the car from the factory. Whoever designed that thing was trippin'. They should have just stuck with the leaper.
