Default 2003 XKR Electrical Problem

I am wondering if I have a problem with my GEM module. The other day I drove my XKR the top down. When I parked and tried to raise the top nothing happened. The car would not start, the engine did not even turn over. I manually raised the top and about a hour later tried to start it and everything worked fine. About a week later Iwas driving it and noticed the turn signals were not working. When I parked the car, it would not restart. the next day everything worked fine. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Kevin

Welcome! You should post next time in the XK8/XKR forum. This section is for forum suggestions, not car questions. One of the moderators will probably move this post for you in a little while.

Sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Make sure the your relays and fuses are fully seated and have not worked loose. Based on your symptoms check the fuses and relays in the dashboard fuseboxes, and the fusebox on the left side of the engine and the boot.

Also make sure your battery connections are clean and tight and the crimped battery cables shows no sign of corrosion.

Each fusebox also has a heavy 12v feed wire undera bolt accessible from the front. Make sure these are tight (make sure you disconnect the battery before putting wrench on them to avoid an accidental short to the chassis!)

There are also two large very high power fuses behind the spare tire. The bolts on these connections have been known to loosen. Again, do not tighten these without disconnecting the battery.

Thanks for pointing me to the right forum. I will take at look at the fuse box and relay connections this weekend and let you know what I find out. Thanks for the help!

OK -I disconnected the battery. I reseated all the relays and made sure the fuses were in tight. I also loosen and tighten the 12volt feed wires. I also tightened the bolts to the high voltage fuses behind the spare tire. If anything was loose it was these bolts. I will let you know if this resolved the problem. Thanks again.
