Default 2003 XKR Oxygen Sensor Question

How many sensors are there total (Up/Down stream) And is it a easy replacement? What are the symptoms of a failing sensor? My 03 has 100,00 miles. It runs well, but occasionally has a gasoline smell that comes and goes.

Check the fuel pressure sensor at the end of the fuel rail, passenger side. It occasionally leaks from the body. It is gas, so it evaporates quickly, but you should be able to tell if you investigate quickly enough after smelling gas. I had P0193 to go with it, FWIW.

Other possibility is either of the DREADED fuel dampers on the fuel rail. Somewhat expensive part, with iffy chances of success on the part replacement apparently, and takes some work to get to as well. Some weld these shut. They are about mid-way along the fuel rails, in between the middle injectors.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

I second Fmertz on the fuel pressure sensor...very common problem, and a gasoline smell at start up that goes away after a moment or two.
