Check Rockauto, these pumps are pretty pricey. Somewhat hard to get to as well, worse in the convertible I believe.

OTOH, don't necessarily believe an early assessment and throw parts at a problem. Feel free to posts details...

Thats what I hear 4- 5 hours labor.
Car is in decent condition. New tires. recent tuneup, etc.
Hydraulic hose leaked so the top must be lowered manually.

Ok, I just did a fuel pump job last Sat. (actually, the sender, but same same) Getting the fuel lines out is a BEAR. But we did the whole thing in about 3 hours. I recommend getting the special tools for $100, easily worth the $$. If we had them it would have been a 1.5 hour job. Hydraulic hoses are also not too difficult to replace, my local hydraulic hose guy was able to fab new ones with the old connectors for not too much $$

2005 XK8 4.2

This the 3rd time to replace the hyrdraulic hoses. Close $2K each time.
How much is a fuel pump for the XK8 ? + 4 hours of labor.

What point do you say enough is enough? : (

Are you using Jaguar hoses? I don't think anyone has reported a problem with Top Hydraulic hoses?

Fuel pump is $500 and up depending on where you buy it.

RJ- there is a guy Krause Engineering I think?) on youtube that fabs tools to remove the fuel lines. After doing the job, I can see the value of those tools.

What makes you think you need a new fuel pump? They are generally pretty reliable. This is a return-less system, the pressure is regulated from the tank, based on a fuel pressure sensor. The fuel pressure value is available over OBDII. A cheap ELM327 with a phone app can get to it, it should read 55 psi. The fuel rail also has a valve for an actual gauge. The fuel filter is also a cheap item to replace, even just to rule that out.

Best of luck, keep us posted.
