I have the Akebono's on my XJ8. Got them from Rock Auto. No noise, stop well and very little dust. Don't know how they would perform on my XKR though.

I changed to a Ceramic pad a couple of years ago & was amazed @ the difference NO MORE BRAKE DUST

Hey VX1, before you spring for the Yokohama tires, take a look at the Toyo PROXES T1R. I've got a set and the handling is amazing. They're good in both wet and dry conditions and quite frankly, the tread design is hot!

Does anyone know what the OEM pads are made out of that are on an XK8?

I'm not up on the new and different materials that are used these days. Do you know what the difference is between the ceramic and non-ceramic pads? Do they both eat up the rotors the same or is one easier on the rotors than the other?

The only aftermarket pads that I've ever used are the Hawk HPS pads. They dust like all of the others. I've found they need a little heat before they really grip.

I have put ceramic low dusting pads on my Jag before. The wheels stayed clean for weeks. But the brakes sucked so much I couldnt stand on the brakes to activate the ABS. Braking distance was noticeably longer. I pulled them and put factory back on. Then when those went out I replaced with dimpled/slotted rotors and EBC reds front and rear since I have used them on friends cars and other Jaguars. A night and day differance over stock which I consider excellant pads. Just dusty, but I would rather stop in less diastance and clean the car alittle more. The only pads that dont eat into the rotors really are organics. And they really dust, suck on panic stops and not uncommon for them to wear away very quickly. So like many things, its a trade off. You can use a spray product to repel brake dust off your wheels and then not be so bothered by brake dust and have great performing brakes

I heard EBC's pads werent all that great, EBC's rotors on the other hand are somewhat good.
How fast generally speaking do the jags breaks wear out?

Hey Brutal; I for one value your opinion.

Which brake system did you say you have..the standard or "R" package? I have the "larger 325mm rotor/single piston" calipers on my earlier XKR...before the 4 pot "R" package was a available. I asked you guys questions on brakes before. I think I might have to run spacers to keep my Double Five wheels and R brake calipers...don't know if I want to do that. I did see Welsh is selling a front only R package for $1500: OEM 4 piston calipers, pads, drilled rotors, dust shields, 4 bolts and hoses. I guess there would be no issues running them in front with standard singles in the rear. In your opinion would it be worth it, if 99% of my driving is "normal" street driving?
