5 speed to 6 speed box?
Hi,
I have the chance to purchase a very low mileage 6 speed box and c/u off a 4.2 R at the right money, question is-
Do,s the panel think that this would benefit my 4.0 R, considering the work involved or should I spend my money and time on drink and women, instead of wasting it on a pointless project?
Regards
Bob

I don't think you want to fool with it.
Each trans type will have it's own controller, and own wiring harness. If you DID swap the trans, controller, and made the wiring work, I am 99% sure the Engine controller wouldn't get along with the new trans and it's controller because there is a LOT of communication between the two. So that would mean a new engine controller, and wiring, and probably a lot of changes to the engine to make it run like a 4.2L.
Unless you know someone who can reprogram one of the two controllers to work with the rest of the combination...

Howdy Folks:
Someone correct me if I am wrong. My understanding is that the MB W5A580 tranny and the NAG1 Chrysler unit are one in the same, which is used with the HEMIs including the SRT's. It can handle up to 700 HP. Aside of the benefits of the extra gear, the MB tranny still is not too shabby and fairly easy to do fluid / screen changes.
