722.6 2001 XKR Transmission Flush
Hi All,
As the torque converter does not have a drain plug I was researching the best way to remove all the transmission fluid rather than just the 3.5 to 4 liters in the oil pan I came across this video on the Mercedes forum. Can anyone see a downside of performing the same procedure the Jag?
The genuine Mercedes transmission oil is only $11.99 Cdn per liter from the local dealer, that about $9 US, so its cheap to do.
Regards,
Karl

No down side, it's the same transmission. I did mine 15 months ago. You do have a drain plug if you want to just replace some of the fluid, but to change the filter you drop the pan (after drain) which is much easier than the ZF since it uses clamp style locks. If you drop the pan you should replace the gasket, there are many kits on ebay for this. Also if you watch the vids / FAQ you will may also consider replacing the orings on the electrical plug to the valve body, these may leak at some point. You will also need to purchase a dip stick to check the fluid refill (refill sleeve on passenger side just under wipers, it has a locktop on it. This also comes in the kits.
