Default Transmission fluid: capacities for change vs flush

How many quarts of transmission fluid should I find coming out if I do a fluid change rather than a fluid flush? I have a 2001 4.0L with the 5HP24 trans.

So, I'll leave the fluid in the drum and won't drop the pan and filter. I read somewhere that a flush would require 10qts.

Is it about 4 quarts for a fluid change?

Some say if you let drain over night you will end up with a larger drain. Hard to say. I re- installed almost 7 qts when I dropped pan changed filter, dropped PART of valve body to replace the hi pressure valve and let sit over night. By the way, I added 3/4 qt more fluid than I took out. I did have the transmission serviced by a Jag tech months prior. So, I will repeat. Follow exact refill procedures. A must. Rich
