first let me say i am very new to this whole fourm thing and i have read and re read the rules and will try my best to understand how the whole thing works, i.e. i posted this in the wrong section yesterday!

own 97 xk8, low miles, love the car. a couple of issues. cig lighter does not work, need it to charge my phone, fuse indicator in the trunk says c14-20. pulled the interior panel where the fuses are and its graph shows it only goes up to c7, where is c14. i assume the amp (?) of the fuse is 20, correct?

2nd- speakers are shot and radio needs updating, took it to a local trusted audio place they want over $800 to replace all speakers and put in bluetooth audio streaming kit and fm antenna adapters so i can utilize my iPhone for my music, would you take it to a dealer?

how do u get the valet off?

Are you looking at the fuse box on the fascia (dash) when you open the passenger door? I see 20 fuses.
I don't know sound systems, but the price sounds within reason. If you want a shock, go to a dealer for an estimate.
Valet can be turned off by using the remote, black key in door, or black key in trunk lock. It's between the X and K.

Now for the more important issue. Are you aware of the need to replace the plastic secondary camshaft chain tensioners with metal ones? Use the search function , enter secondary tensioners and read up. You probably have a lot of studying ahead of you.

Thanks Graham. I sent the invitation in response to his original post in the X308 section, but he probably didn't see it.

Default lights

Thanks to everyone for your responses. i am loving my car but am finding some issues. The head lights go on by themselves after i shut off the car, not all the time and not always immediately. i can shut the car off, pull the key out of the ignition start to get out of the car and the lights go on. it's caused problems a number of times. i've had it to the shop a number of times, they have had a 'expert' look at it and of course it does not occur when they have the car. any ideas?

Who are the "experts"? If you're dealing with Leith Jaguar in Cary, you may want to consider other options. A few of us here have had less-than-satisfactory results there on a number of occasions over the years....

Flying Circus English Cars off the Briggs Avenue exit on the Durham Freeway is highly regarded in our area. You may want to check with them....
