Default 97 XK8 fault code 1224

Morning all, has been raining a lot here in Brisbane over past 48 hrs and XK8 caught out in it. Drove off down the road and the stability yellow light came on and then noticed dropping of a couple of cylinders on low power settings, engine warning light on red I believe.
All 8 cylinders come online with higher settings, disconnected the stability control and then went into limp home mode. switched stability control back on and auto working ok again.??
Also noticed no cruise control, doors not locking when selecting drive.
ran my OB2 scan on my phone and code 1224 comes up, Did expect several others. Currently idle is fast and erratic,
Any ideas on where to start??
Thanks Peter G

A friend was caught in a downpour in his 97 and had a similar experience. It was due to wet connectors in various places, and even required repairs to the abs module.
If you disconnect the battery first, you can try disconnecting the throttle body plugs and let them dry, then use some electronic cleaner on the connections.
Then proceed to the abs module, MAFS, and TCM, ECM. Check the boot for water. There is no end of connections that may have suffered, but that's a start.

P1224 is related to Throttle Body errors. Check and clean all Throttle Body Electrical Connections.

Also may help to clean the Throttle Body Bore and Throttle Plate with Throttle Body Cleaner.

Default P1224

Removed, Cleaned Throttle Body, fittings etc, no luck,

My Throttle body is a 96JV9E926-AG and can purchase as a good price a new unit 98JV9E926AA. Any one know if simply a supersession in part # and will work on my 97 XK8 or the new unit definitely will not talk to the fuel control unit??
Same with the stability control P1799, my module is a LJA2210AH and I can buy a new unit cheaply ZNF1210AD if it talks to my system
I am having trouble from the local dealers in finding out the difference.

Default P1224 fault P1799

Just an update guys, swapped Throttle Body, partially new unit, mine was notchy on opening, no good, tried a good s/hand unit, no difference, all codes the same after clearing using a phone and obd check (Torque) also tried the hard start, changed the ABS another s/hand unit, looked inside and clean as, removed all wheels and checks wheel sensors, cleaned, checked cables, finally took it to it to a local Tech. He has pulled the computer and his viewed parts are fried but would like an expert to run a test and repair.
Anybody we can trust to do an exchange unit, just a long way down under for a faulty unit and time to boot.
The number on this unit is LJA1410AK, 079700-6513
Nippon denso # 006513F
Open to suggestions thanks Guys

The ECU from that year has known problems with parts that fail in them. My ECU is the same revision and it farted out back in January and one of the symptoms was the CC not working and 4 cylinders not working. I sent it to a place called ASI and for a reasonable price they checked it and verified it was bad and repaired it and now everything is fine. They only needed it about 3 days total (not including shipping time). I most definitely highly recommend them - great service.

I can second what Dave said. I had the same problems, send my ECU to ASI, it came back quick, they fixed the problems and has given no problems since.

I had similar issues with my 97 when I owned it. Sent it to ASI also and they fixed the ECU and all the issues went away. With my car they came on pretty quickly. I would not be convinced the run into the rain was the issue to start with. I sold it about 5 years ago and the dude that bought it has not had issue with it since (he lives near me, we talk)/

Default P1224 and other fault codes

Areas of the ECU burnt discoloured, I did not think the car should run with this damage, obviously not well

Update Guys, thanks for the input and with that I believe the info re the ECU is correct, I was chasing probs with the TBS, Wheel sensors, ABS module due to the several fault codes mentioned in my 1st post. Finally lifted the lid on the ECU and see what I found in the Pics. Currently it being flown from down under to AIS for repair. Lucky it was not an urgent repair

If the ECU got wet and blew then you obviously have water getting into the bay. Have you checked that the rubber drain lines that take the water from the windshield are connected and clear? If not, you may get a repeat performance next time it rains.

I figured you'd find something like that as that revision ECU (same as mine) is prone to failure. In fact the ASI tech said due to some poor quality parts used in these early ones its a matter of when not if they will fail,
