97 XK8 reverse lights not working
Help !! My shop manual has not arrived in the mail yet, the reverse lights on my 97 XK8 don't work, and I need to get the state inspection today or tomorrow. The bulbs are good, and there is no power to the socket when the car is in R with the key on. All the other lights work properly; is there a reverse switch in the trans? Is this a module issue?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Reverse Lights are controlled by the Security and Locking Control Module ( in the trunk).
The only other lights controlled by this module are the Rear Fog Lamps. Do the rear fog lamps work??
Other (rear) lamps use either the Lamp Control Module and/or the Body Processor Module
Doubt it is a fuse (#1 15A Trunk Fuse Box) as this fuse also supplies parts of the Top and Window controls..

FJK is right. The manual was in the mail today, and the reverse lights are controlled by the SLCM. I don't have rear fog lights, but the top and rear windows are inoperable, as is the remote locking. I'll search the forum on the SLCM and I'm sure I'll find the answer. Both lights are dark.
The good news is the car passed inspection anyway!!!
Thanks to H2oBoy and FJK for the quick response!!!

I finally found a donor car in the area with the proper SLCM part # and VCAT. Plugged it in last night and the reverse lights now work, along with the rear quarter windows and fuel filler hatch release !!!! Thanks to all who offered assistance.
