Default 98 XK8 Trunk "closed" switch

My trunk lights and warning message don't work. Can someone tell me where the switch is for the trunk lights and the "trunk open" message? I have 12V at the lights, the diode between the switch and lights checks OK. The lights will come on at some point while I am looking at things, but then when I close the trunk and open it again the lights don't come on. The ground through the switch at the diode seems to vary, but I can't find the switch to check it directly. Is there a "time out" that turns the lights off after a certain time?

There is a micro switch in the lock mechanism. Spray it down with WD-40 or electrical cleaner and then take a vacuum and place it over the latch mechanism. The switch will corrode and work intermittent but debris can also fall into the latch area and create problems.

I'll look for it and try it. Thanks
