Default Side lights off message

Hi
Haven't used the car in a coupla months, use battery conditioner.

On 1st use I had the dash warning about lights being off with about 80% of daylight remaining.

Possible cause please...where is the sensor situated?

I do propose to try it again, but thought I would ask the question.
Thanks
Brian

All the message means is that if you had had the lights on their automatic setting, the system would have turned them on. The sensor's idea of when it is appropriate to turn on the lights might just differ from yours.

Or maybe you had a dirty windscreen in the area in front of the sensor that is positioned in the front of the interior mirror casing and that exaggerated the light reduction?

Thanks for your response.
The windscreen looked clean to me, but just as a precaution I went over the area with glass cleaner.automatic setting? I wasn't aware there was one and how do I switch it to auto?
I never had the opportunity today to road test it, but I will report here when I have done so.
Thanks for your input, it is appreciated.

Look at the headlight switch stalk, you will see an auto setting.
