I am thinking of purchasing a '00 XK8 with a bad engine and putting my '99 engine in at to save on a new paint job and front end rebuild. Any known issues with the swap? Should I do it? Pure economics for me.

Both are AJ27 engines and should swap easily. There might be minor harness or other issues but that is about as easy as its going to get.

Your '99 is a Nikasil engine, the '00 a steel sleeve. Don't know how the ECM tune might be different. Swaping ECM's invokes key issues.
