Default 98 XK8 convertible top fluid

My reservoir for the top fluid is just a tad bit low. In reading the tsb, it appears that I can add the "new" type fluid to the system without flushing the old out.
Quote: "Action:
On a verified customer complaint of slow operation or erratic latching of the convertible top, check the
hydraulic fluid level within the reservoir, and if low, top up using "Pentosin" fluid (Part No JLM21112)
Cycle the top fully open and closed several times to see if the performance returns to normal.
"
Am I asking for trouble if I do this? The Pentosin appears to be available at a local parts store for about $25.00 a liter.

Thanks, Scott

It's unlikely the original yellow fluid is still there, as it usually gelled after a couple of years. Pentosin is green, and if that's what's in the tank just top it off.

But if you do have a yellow fluid it's best to flush the system with Pentosin.

If you're still running the factory fluid, I would go ahead and siphon all of it out before refilling with the new-style non-gelling Pentosin fluid. Why invite trouble by just topping up the inferior fluid? Replacing fluid that old and problematic is a no-brainer....

See if the link below helps. Penstosin CHF 11S is available at most auto parts stores.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you all, had to make a mad dash down to Tennessee for a few days. Thanks for the answers/advice. The fluid is green, I bought a 16 oz tin of Pentosin CHF 11S at our local AutoZone store to top it off. next question. After looking through the threads on tops and reading the TSB, it appears the the fluid should be at the bottom line with the top up. Does this sound correct?

And, the car is going in for a "wellness check" at my favorite mechanic shop pretty soon as I plan on taking it out to Colorado the end of May. Be about a 3,000 mile round trip when I'm done. I'll post a trip
report with any thoughts/issues that arise during its little excursion.
