I am a little confused. He looked at his wireless device out and told you one of your modules is not communicating! Not sure what he saw but if it were me I would consider getting a second opinion. First let me say that replacing a module on these cars is not a plug and play they in most cases need to be programmed to the car. You can however have the one you have rebuilt. With the codes you have I am not sure what he could see that would suggest a module replacement.

As for the VVT and the oil suggestion oil slug could cause problems with the VVT operating properly.

Default thanks Gus

Sorry, I just now have gotten back on the Jag forum and saw your reply. I will be returning to Maine for the summer in a couple of weeks and hopefully I'll be able to find an knowledgeable jag technician to take care of my problem. I will
make sure that I use your suggestions as a check list that he might work with.
As for the independent technician that said a module was defective. I have to agree, his explanation was quite fuzzy. I researched the tech bulletin for the vvt solenoid problem and it didn't mention modules at all. Anyways, I love my summer jag and will try my best to keep it on the road. Thanks again, and i will let you know how things work out.

try posting on the regional forum for your area and see if someone near you is available to brainstorm your problems am sure there are other xk8 members in your area and maybe the know a reputable jag mechanic for those problems you cant handle . the forum here is a great place to get insight into your car. if you give enough info someone here will have the answer.

Exclamation many thanks for your suggestion

I want to thank you for saying the obvious although I never thought of that. I have been listing on Craigslist my desire to find a knowledgeable Jag tech and have not been too successful. I've had great luck on this Jag forum in finding info whenever i needed it. I'll do exactly as you say. Thanks again.

Sam- I'm also located in Maine. I'll send you a PM with my cell number and I'd be happy to let you know what I've found. Chris

My bad just saw you are in OOB. I'm in Saco!
