I really would like to have the option of cruise control but the "on" button on the console (to the immediate left of the "Sport" button and just rearward of the shifter) is jammed in the down position and will not release. I will have it fixed by the dealer if necessary but thought I would see if I could scare up the parts here first. The Sport button does work fine btw.

 

Have you tried removing the switch and cleaning it?



The gear shift surround has to be removed for access.

I have. The switch seems damaged although for the life of me I cannot understand what one would need to do to jam it the way this one seems to be jammed.

 

I would remove the switch, take it somewhere safe, grab a bucket and a couple of jewler screwdriver. Disassemble the switch to find the glitch, these are not complicated. The bucket is for the disassembly. There are small pieces and Springs that you want to watch as you take apart. If it's broken inside, you'll need a new switch (ebay). I bet you can fix it. Either way you need to be able to remove it. Do you need instructions how to remove it ?
