Default 3 piece rim repair

My tire dealer explained to me that my fancyass 20" 3 piece rims were leaking so they couldn't fix my tire going flat. Great. Anyone have a referral in the DFW area to refurbish a GnG 3 piece rim? Alternatively, perhaps I should just swap them out for stock 18" XK8 rims and tires and look less like a Donk.

Know what you mean, I just got the 3 piece Detroit wheels to replace my Atlas wheels. They look delicate!! I also didn't realize that I needed a special adapter to put air in. Ohh well, I'm already invested in them..

Going to put for sell my set of 4 chrome 19" Atlas wheels with tires soon, pm me if interested.

Considering that the BBS wheels were something like a $6,000 option on our cars that were already more than $75K, it is egregious that this did not include tire pressure monitors. Fiddling around with those BBS valves to check air is one of my least favorite things.

I've thought about that but decided against it since those valves are really not exactly like typical Schrader valves and are not meant to be left in place on the wheel.

If it is the BBS wheels you have there is really only one place they could leak in addition to any other wheels. That is at the valve adapter position O ring. Pretty simple procedure to change it out.
They are really only 2 piece wheels with a polished trim ring added on.

Have you figured out where the leak actually is? If in doubt, soapy water works great. Start at the valve, and take pictures. Once you start calling around, the pictures will come handy to convey the problem to a shop.

Can't help with a shop, but can say, having had several 3 piece wheels redone, the price is probably $250-300 (at least in the D.C. Area assuming it's not just a valve). Just an FYI.

If the shiny aluminum ring is bad, that piece alone is $270. Lots of people just bondo and repaint them. But there's a reason the Jaguar 3 piece BBS's are so expensive if you can find nice used ones

The one thing I didn't like on my 2005 XK8 was the split rim Sepang 20 inch wheels.

Look good but a harsh ride on 255/35 Front and 285/30 Rear compared with my previous 2001 XK8 with 18 inch 245/45 Front and 255/45 Rear. The 19 inch rims on my current XK are a good compromise between looks and comfort.

Although I never needed a rebuild, the UK BBS wheel specialist who supplied a new valve kit advised that removing the titanium bolts was never easy and the set always had to be replaced. Thre trim rings are also getting harder to source and the cost is outrageous.

This could start getting very expensive if you persevere with the 20 inch split rims.

Hey Buddy.....It doesn't matter which 20" BBS Wheel you have, it can be repaired. In Carrollton you can call Wheel Repair Solutions 1441Patton Pl, Ste. 195 (972-242-6700)
The internet told me this just asking for Aluminum Wheel repair in Dallas. There are several more places in the Dallas area that repair them......I have 20" BBS Montreal's and hit a curb....The guy here in Houston made the wheel look like new....You never want to part with your 20's...They are sort of a Jag thing.......I think that sort of make the car....
