Abbey's Heading to Sebring AMLS - pics
Abbey is all dressed up and ready to go out. Leaving for the Sebring race early tomorrow morning. I will take pictures when I am there. 3 days of tent camping with Abbey and my son. Here are some pics of the girl all cleaned up; tint done, clear side markers, spats, and rear spoiler on... Looking good I think! MC

Here is your GTP1 overall winner and runner up cars... The Audi R18 is a monster! Oh, and the tail end of the BMW M3 in the Audi #3 picture is the winner of the GTPro class... Jaguar racing (RSR) was a total "no show" and no corporate sponsorship. There was not even a Jaguar car corral for me the park the XK in.

Yes, unfortunately RSR and Jaguar disbanded their GT effort. RSR is now racing a Oreca FLM09 in the PC class.
For what it's worth, the years Jaguar RSR was competing there were never Jaguar car corrals at Laguna Seca, just Porsche and Corvette corrals.
I followed RSR hopeful that their Trans AM success would help them succeed in the ALMS series. Unfortunately it was a prtty much a failure but I do understand that, in addition to the Prototype Challenge campaign, RSR will start marketing aftermarket parts for current model Jaguars although it doesn't help us Gen 1 XK8/R owners.

Thanks Marc. At Sebring for about the last 4 years, Jag was the big sponser, Everything was branded, and the main corral was Jaguar right at the end of the grandstand. I was really suprised to see them bail. It was a big field this year, with a lot of new teams and sponsorship. Seems many of the big teams (Peugeot, Flying Lizard, Patron, Robertson/Ford GT-40, Aston Martin, etc.) were gone or scaled way back. Too bad I guess, but life moves on. It was a great race in the GT classes and LMP2/LMPC. In LMP1, Audi was dominant. They would have easily swept exept the #1 car experienced gearbox issues. You are right-- RSR had terrible issues at Sebring too. Pretty car though. MC

Hey Marc. You were right! RSR was there in LMPC. The car was there hiding in plain sight as a rolling billboard for Hollywood; a new Ridley Scott Alien movie.... I was disappointed that RSR tabled the #98 GT Jaguar, as one of the drivers was supposed to be Shane Lewis -- a big favorite at Sebring (Turn 10 fame) as he lives in Jupiter Florida. MC

I am really disappointed that Jag has not followed through with its GT/RSR racing. I love the Jags that showed up and did pretty well. I think they just let Aston Martin have all the glory. It's typcal backwards British thinking. Look at the success of the Audis, then look at their car sales. You think people are buying those flat-faced ugly lumps because they have forgotten their reputation for crappy reliability? No, it's because Audi has made a solid name in their racing. Something about Jaguar ownership (India or whoever) and management that just doesn't understand REAL car people.

Is this a good thing?

And, does this mean Jaguar is going to compete in ALMS?

Can someone capture this pic for me (The #9 Jag). It's HUGE, and it won't save like normal.

Oldjaglover-- Exactly what we are talking about. Look back at post #6. The red "Prometheus" Oreca is the new LMPC car that RSR racing is now running. Not a Jaguar. The #98 XKR GT car is no more. Speaking of vintage racing -- the only Jag I saw on the track this weekend was the old #44 XJR-7 in a vintage race (see pic). Other than that the only Jag I saw was my XK8; when I was driving around in the "Green Park" camping area-- I did about 2 laps of the area. Some young kid with a megaphone "clowned me" by saying "Look! Team Jaguar showed up and completed more laps than they ever have here." I'm not making that up. You said Aston got all the glory, not so-- They did not field the #007 Aston LMP1 either, but they (Aston Racing) did have a new GT PRo car that did fairly well.
