Default AC Condenser

I need to change mine!

it wasn't part of the plan though so at the moment the car is in pieces and in no condition to start up.

Given the state of the condenser I suspect the gas has leaked out but is there any way I can tell without starting the car before I undo any connectors?

Look for green-colored dye around the various joints and pipes. Most refrigerants have dye added to them as part of the installation process to help with detecting leaks....

Attach one of the hoses from a manifold/gauge set? There will be a pressure reading if refrigerant is present.
